Money, Value for it and Generosity

Sometime I feel these days kids demand anything and we just get the things for them. I wonder how they will understand the value of it. Yesterday these two incidences were revolving around money and made positive impact on myself as a parent and I guess on my kiddo too.

After a long time daddy and Neel went to park. When they returned Neel was upset and angry. When asked, he told that, daddy had thrown away his old shoes.

Daddy: “They were pretty old and was totally torn so first I have got him new shoes and then I throw away old shoes.
Neel: Neel was still upset with this act. He said, “we could have kept it as a backup or we would have given it to some poor boy”.

And then Daddy recalled something happened in park and started laughing, so I asked, now what? He narrated me another conversion happened between them

Daddy : (Looking at his old shoe) "Neel, would you like to buy new shoes?"
Neel: (with sad face) “Yes, but I don't have money"
Daddy : (Laughing... Let me re frame the sentence for you)“Neel, would you like to have a new shoes, daddy will buy it for you”?
Neel : (Happily ) “Yes please”

When daddy was laughing at this, Mother within me was delighted to know that, my son understands, that he is not earning and he is dependent on us. And he also value the things he has got. Also his generosity made me happy to think about someone who can't afford things.
